What questions do the Packers have left to answer before the playoffs?
The Packers have limited control over what seed they land in the NFC playoffs. That doesn't mean the next two games don't matter to them, however.
While the Green Bay Packers have two games left in the regular season, their path forward looks nearly set in stone. They cannot win the NFC North crown and therefore will qualify only for a wild-card berth. Even then, Green Bay enters Week 17 as far more likely to land the No. 6 seed than any other outcome.
Even if the Packers win out, they would still need the Detroit Lions to defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Week 18 to improve their seeding. Given that the Lions might have nothing to play for in the season finale, the real-life chances of them beating the Vikings look less promising than the odds look on paper.
Conversely, the Packers could also lose out and realistically hold onto the No. 6 seed. The Washington Commanders, currently sitting at 10-5, would need to beat either an Atlanta Falcons squad that has their division crown on the line as well as a Dallas Cowboys team that continues to play for head coach Mike McCarthy. Also, keep in mind that Green Bay closes the regular season against the Chicago Bears who haven't held a lead since Nov. 24.
All of which to say, the Packers don't have much left to play for when it comes to the standings.
That doesn't mean the final two games of the season don't matter to Green Bay in any way, however. The team has several critical questions it hopes to address between now and the playoffs, and those will require seeing certain developments on the field.
