Week 9 revealed more about Matt LaFleur than Jordan Love
The spotlight fell on first-time starter Jordan Love during the Packers' 13-7 loss to the Chiefs, but the game revealed more about his head coach, Matt LaFleur.
For a host of reasons, the spotlight fell on Jordan Love during Sunday's matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs. The 2020 first-round pick made his first regular-season start in place of Aaron Rodgers, the reigning league MVP who missed the game after testing positive for COVID-19. Meanwhile, the Packers entered the week with the inside track for the NFC's top playoff seed, a position put in jeopardy by Rodgers' absence. With his future in Green Bay still up in the air and Love a factor in that potential parting, the tilt held both short- and long-term implications for the franchise and the NFL at large.
But while Love has gone under the microscope, the performance of his head coach and play-caller deserves at least as much scrutiny.
