If nothing else, the past month has made clear how badly the Green Bay Packers need a shot in the arm on offense. Since Week 4, the unit has topped out at 20 points while previous strengths have deteriorated to a significant degree. The offensive line cannot get consistent push in the run game nor can it keep Jordan Love clean (seven sacks and 14 hits absorbed over three games). In turn, Love has regressed badly, making and repeating easy mistakes and continuing to struggle with his deep ball.
This version of the Packers offense would look unrecognizable to the one from less than two years ago. Not only does the unit no longer have future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers under center, but none of the pass catchers approaches the field-tilting capabilities of All-Pro Davante Adams. And while Aaron Jones remains in the backfield, injuries have limited him to just 71 snaps over the first seven weeks. Little comes easy for Green Bay these days, and the personnel has played a major role as to why.
At least during the season, no panacea exists for the Packers' problems. The coaching staff cannot enact one change nor can the front office pursue a single player and expect the offense to suddenly fire on all cylinders. Any improvement almost certainly will build over several weeks as the overall youth of the roster requires the team to accept growing pains.
Still, the Packers must adjust their approach to have any hope of finding offensive success before the end of the season. Reconfiguring the O-line could provide some help while dialing up Jones' workload should have a meaningful effect in multiple areas. Leaning into more play-action and run-pass options might jumpstart the passing game too.
But the Packers have another button to push and they seem ready to smash it: Dontayvion Wicks.
