Incredible job this franchise does with the offensive line. Most teams don't have even one lineman as good as DBakh or Jenkins, how many could lose two players that good and still win the up-front battle with the 9ers D-line? The commitment to drafting them, developing them, and designing game plans that put them into position to succeed is awesome, I feel lucky that my team is rarely on the receiving end of a bloodbath like Fields just took.
I had gotten into the habit of calling Kenny Clark overpaid. I’m glad he made me eat my words tonight. I thought Preston also had a really nice night. Several pressures (tho one was a blown blitz pickup) and he set the edge really well. Campbell looks like a guy who at worst won’t kill us and at best can make a few really nice plays.
I also noticed Jaire getting targeted a tad more than usual (that Deebo catch against him in the 4th quarter was unbelievable). I’m wondering if that’s partially because Stokes was actually competing with guys on the other side of the field so the obvious read wasn’t always over there like it usually is with King?
I felt really good about the Campbell signing at the time and he may end up being the difference maker on this defense. Give Gutey credit.
Nijman really should be the player of the game. Who saw that coming? The offensive line gets 5 stars in my mind.
